BlackBerry: The one time smartphone leader, its fall, and the comeback that never happened




1984 – Engineering understudies Mike Lazaridis and Douglas Fregin help secure Research in Motion

1992 – Jim Balsillie became member of RIM

1996 – the Inter@active Pager was presented, which permits clients to send and get messages

1999 – RIM get recorded in NASDAQ  and launch the RIM 850 Wireless phone, an information essentially QWERTY gadget

2010 August – The BlackBerry Torch turns out, which offered a sliding touchscreen and a QWERTY console

2010 October – The first Windows telephones go lessened

2011 August – RIM discharges the BlackBerry Bold 9900, the last enormous push for BB7

2013 – RIM reports that it will cut 40 percent of its staff

2013  – BlackBerry signs letter of desire to be obtained through Fairfax Financial Holdings for $4.7 billion.
